We've all witnessed the fantastic progress of the Longfellow Bridge restoration and associated pedestrian bridge replacement. CBI is pleased to announce that the pedestrian bridge has been repurposed from pedestrian transportation to public art. The Boston Improvement Committee is currently seeking proposals for alternate design ideas. CBI has proposed a six story tall Cape Cod Mercury sculpture. Leaders from the Beacon Hill neighborhood commented that the Mercury idea is one of the most innovative proposals under serious consideration. Others however expressed a more muted sense of optimism. Executive Director, Charlie Zechel applauds the change of plan. “The pedestrian bridge was over-rated. In the old days dodging cars on Storrow Drive was considered good sport. And who wouldn't want a giant Mercury in their front yard?”. Other proposals include a giant anchor and a giant cannon. All three proposals have received initial positive feedback from the public and the media.
